In The Weight of the Journey, Dewey Farrell, ex-detective in Portland, Oregon, follows clues left by a phone message from a childhood friend offering to make him rich if he’ll return to Banner County. Dewey senses desperation.
He arrives in Banner too late. His friend and the friend’s sister already lie dead, and Dewey realizes he’s next. To save himself he must find answers to the mysteries of his own identity and his role in the land. At the same time, he must challenge the greed of the man responsible for the death of his friends.
